DESCRIPTION

This 15 days Birding trip to Southern highland  Tanzania  will give you a great memory and you explore and wrap up attractions in just 15days. You will be able to visit Kitulo Plateau national park that will give you a chance to explore botanical nature, hiking to the plateau viewing spiced up by the fascinating landscape. The park is rich of plants, flowres and birds.  Hiking in Mbeya to visit Ngozi crater, God's Bridge and Kaporogwe falls, visit Lake Rukwa explore several birds. This trip will be able to combine several activities ( Game viewing and hiking safari in Mbeya and Lake visit experience which is a life time adventure. Adding in a visit to Matema Beach, Lake Malawi to spice up your stay, relax at the Beach after the long road trip.

ITINERARY

Day 1
VISITING NGOSI CRATER LAKE (TAKES 1HR)

After breakfast, you will be pickup from the hotel and drive to Ngosi crater lake is another million-year-old volcano that can be climbed in just a few hours. After climbing to the top through tropical vegetation you will be rewarded with a spectacular view of the Crater Lake and different birds’ species within the rain forest lying about 200 meters below. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Desderia in Mbeya

Day 2
MPANGA KIPENGERE GAME RESERVE (THE LAND OF WATERFALLS) TAKES 2HRS DRIVE

After breakfast, will be boarded to the safari vehicles and start our safari to the Reserve consists of the Kipengere, Mpanga, Lugala, and Chafukwe Mountains, which provides scenery of beautiful green mountains, sprawling plains, dramatic valleys, and snaking rivers with unique waterfalls. Here you can enjoy hiking and rock climbing as well as bird watching and a magnificent assortment of wild flowers (from November to March). The Reserve is filled with beautiful plants including the tuberous orchid. Like other attractions in the Southern Highlands, it also has its fair share of endemic species. These wonders include the nosed chameleon, marsh widow, Njombe cisticola, Kipengere seedeater, and the very rare Fufumka bird. The reserve is also a home for migratory bird species For the adventurous, bush camping facilities are available where evenings of stargazing will delight any astronomer. Dinner and overnight at the cottages in Mpanga Kipengere GR

Day 3 and 4
KITULO NATIONAL PARK (TAKES 1HRS DRVIE)

6:30am after breakfast, will be boarded to the safari vehicles and start our safari to the Natured God’s Garden Kitulo National Park which will take us 2hrs to check in the park for the Lunch around 12hrs.After Lunch we will start the game drive and explore on the God’s garden with a different Flowers and beautiful landscape of the plateau covered with the flowers and butterflies and feeling on the undistracted weather that will breath us till 4:30pm and overnight at the bandas in Kitulo National Park 

Day 5
DRIVE TO KIWIRA-SONGWE (TAKES 1.50HRS DRIVE)

After breakfast, drive to Kiwira-Songwe where you can find a famous attraction; the bridge of God (Daraja la Mungu). A million of years old rock forms a natural bridge that crosses the river. Just a few kilometers up the kiwira valley is the ‘cooking pot’ where the Kiwira River falls into a seething cauldron or sump and the Marasusa waterfalls. Dinner and overnight at farm lodge in Tukuyu 

Day 6
MOUNT RUNGWE (TAKES 2HRS DRIVE)

After breakfast, Start a fully day hiking tour (with packed lunch) on Mount Rungwe (2,960m) dominates the area, on the slopes of the mountain and watching the sun come up over Rungwe. During the night camping on the slopes of Mount Rungwe . Lunch and dinner at farm lodge in Tukuyu 

Day 7
LAKE MASOKO , AND KAPAROGWE FALLS (TAKES 2HRS)

After breakfast start a full day walking tour to kaporogwe waterfalls. This tour is not just a trip to the beautiful Kaparogwe falls, but also includes a hike in to the valley to see the German built hanging bridges. On the way to the waterfall you will pass through the Crater Lake is the perfect place to swim, picnic or even camp. It is especially known for its history. The Germans dumped coins and other items in the lake when they were being chased by the British forces during the First World War. Find out more about Rungwe’s past during a nice walk around Lake Masoko. at Matema Lake shore Lodge

Day 8 and 9
MATEMA BEACH ACTIVITIES

In the early morning with a lovely sunrise from the living stone mountains can take a walk along the beach and enjoy swimming thereafter at 7am the breakfast will be ready for you, this whole day will be spend time in Matema beach of the lake nyasa, while in Matema you will enjoy an attractive beautiful view of the beach, also have time for swimming and experience the fishing culture activities at Matema market and doing canoeing to a snorkeling to see coloured fish and take a visit to Ikombe village where women are doing portly and being interested with their culture. After sometime you will be taken back to the shore for relax and overnight.

Day 10 and 11
MWALALO WATERFALL (TAKES 4HRS)

In Mateam Beach To Utengule Coffee Lodge Today at6:30am will start a hike to Mwalalo waterfalls for 1hr hiking along and within the river channel of the mwalalo falls where will spend some time there for swimming and breeze the water falls together till 12hrs then back to the lake shore around 13hrs for Lunch and get ready back to Mbeya and drop off to hotel in Mbeya for Overnight

Day 12
UTENGULE – UWANDA GAME RESERVE VIA MBOZI METIORITE &CAMP LAELA VILLAGE (TAKES 5HRS)

After breakfast we will head to Mbozi meteorite site, situated in Mbozi district inside Songwe Region. Mbozi Meteorite site is the archeological site with different culture histories then drive direct to Laela village town for dinner and overnight at Laela village town

Day 13 &14
LAELA VILLAGE TOWN – UWANDA GAME RESERVE

After early morning breakfast, we will drive to Uwanda game reserve and welcomed with a spectacular good view of the Lakeshore of lake Rukwa. Then will see different animal species like large birds before exploring the range of different habitats that include swamps, woodland, and lakeshore of lake Rukwa whereby we will also See the largest groups/population of Crocodiles, Mountain buffalos and Elephants

without forgetting the bushland with Miombo trees and acacias forests. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp/local hotel

Day 15
UWANDA GAME RESERVE - MBEYA CITY TOWN

Morning will have a Hot Bush breakfast prepared locally at our camp fire then will go for a walk to the lakeshore for different activities like spot fishing, shorebird watching and a visit to a local fish market before lunch. Then after lunch will departure driving for 6-7Hrs from Uwanda direct to Mbeya city town for dinner and overnight stay at the Utengule Coffee Lodge.
