DESCRIPTION

This 12 days trip to Southern highland  Tanzania  will give you a great memory and you explore and wrap up attractions in just 12 days. You will be able to visit Mikumi, Ruaha national park that will give you a rare experience of game viewing spiced up by the fascinating landscape. The park is rich of plants and animals such as Greater Kudu (Tragelaphus strepsiceros) which can not be found in any other national park. Hiking in Mbeya to visit Ngozi crater, God's Bridge and Kaporogwe falls. Never miss a farm stay at Kisolanza Old Farm  will give you an opportunity to experience local several activities such as coffee farm tour, banana farm tour, river tour to learn about local herbs and also waterfall hikes, go for nature walks or canoeing, a hotspring and several other attractions. You can taste and learn how to cook Tanzania meals, and learn different skills from other activities. You will well be able to combine several activities ( Game viewing and hiking safari in Mbeya and Farm stay experience which is a life time adventure. Adding in a visit to Matema Beach, Lake Malawi to spice up your stay, relax at the Beach after the long road trip.

ITINERARY

Day 1
ARRIVAL IN DAR ES SALAAM

Arrival in Dar International Airport meet and greet with driver guide, then transferred to check in at Tiffany Diamond Hotel for overnight on bed and breakfast.

Day 2
SAFARI TO MIKUMI

After breakfast, depart to Mikumi National Park, hot lunch at Morogoro town, evening game drive, exploring the wildlife and ecological nature. Check in for dinner and overnight at Tanswiss Lodge

The Tan-Swiss Lodge is located on the main Morogoro – Iringa road just 2 km west of Mikumi National Park. It offers affordable comfortable accommodation with king-sized beds and en-suite facilities, all with private terraces. The restaurant with its colorful murals serves a wide variety of delicious meals to suit all tastes. The hotel is set in pleasant gardens. It has a charm all of its own and the owner is a very welcoming host.

Day 3
GAME DRIVE IN MIKUMI

After breakfast, depart for a full day game drive in Mikumi National Park with picnic lunches enjoying full exploration in the wild. Return for dinner and overnight at Tan Swiss Lodge on full board basis.

Mikumi National Park, is one of the amazing wildlife adventure spot situated on the southern Circuit of Tanzania with full of abundance wild animals, birds and ecology. A great ideal for a short safari that can easily combined with other. Destinations such Udzungwa, Ruaha or Selous.

Day 4
TO IRINGA VISIT NEEMA CRAFT PROJECT, THEN RUAHA

After breakfast, start your journey to Ruaha via Iringa across mountainous areas of Kitonga with incredible view. Guests will be able to visit Neema Craft Project, and have lunch there.  After lunch continue drive to Ruaha National Park evening arrive and check in at Ruaha Hill Top for dinner and overnight on full board.

Neema Crafts, in partnership with the Mother's Union (UMAKI) of the Diocese of Ruaha, has built the first disabled staffed guest house in Africa. The guest house provides training and employment for deaf and disabled trainees. Profits are put towards the running costs of the Neema Therapy centre for disabled children, and will also help to make Neema's work with people with disabilities even more sustainable.

Ruaha Hilltop is situated 110km from Iringa Town nearby Ruaha National Park entry gate. The lodge is built on high a hill with a wonderful panoramic view of the entire park.  There are many different types of birds and trees that can be seen near the lodge. Dining and bar is all under one roof with a special place to enjoy the sunrise and sunset.

Day 5 and 6
GAME DRIVE IN RUAHA NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, two full day game drives, with picnic lunches, dinner and overnight at Ruaha Hill top, on full board

Ruaha National Park covering a conservation area of 10,300 square km in the south-west of the country, sprawls within and along the Great Rift Valley, covering a unique transition zone where the eastern and southern species of both fauna and flora meet against a dramatic topographical backdrop. This is also one of the few Tanzanian parks where sightings of the rarer antelopes, such as the Sable, the Roan and both lesser & Greater Kudu, are a probability rather than a possibility

Day 7
JOURNEY TO MBEYA

After breakfast, depart to Mbeya Town with lunch boxes, across Iringa town, check in at Peace of Mind Rest House for overnight, basing on bed and breakfast

Peace of Mind Rest House is located in Mbeya, close to Saka nne Stadium.  The rooms have brick wall finishing and traditional-modern furniture. Each room has an en-suite bathroom, an air conditioner, full length windows and floor to ceiling drapes.  The onsite restaurant serves a variety of local and continental meals. The bar also serves a variety of drinks and beverages and outdoor dining services are available. The hotel has an outdoor pool

Day 8
TRIP TO LAKE MALAWI

After breakfast, proceed with your trip to Lake Malawi, along the way visiting some of the famous tourist attraction experience such amazing nature like Lake Ngozi Crater, Kijungu(Pot) Falls, God’s bridge (Daraja la mungu) as well as experiencing the view of Tea Plantation. Check in for dinner and overnight at Matema Lake shore Resort, basing on full board

Matema Lake Shore Resort, Situated at the beach of Lake Malawi in the village of Matema,. Hotel with self-contained suites, guesthouses with double, triple or 5-bed rooms. Restaurant, beach, volleyball pitch, free games (table tennis, kubb, cards).

Day 8
ALONG THE WAY; EXPLORE DISCOVER AND EXPERIENCE EVOLVING OF THE NATURE;

Lake Ngozi crater is one of the wonderful tourist attractions, A mountain crater, along the walls of the caldera is a rainforest, which is kept evergreen by the large amounts of rainfall that the caldera receives. A few parts of the caldera walls lay bare due to landslides

God’s Natural Bridge ( Daraja La Mungu in Swahili Language) without missing a short wonderful authentically site seen at  God's bridge the natural bridge that connect the two banks of Kiwira river is a also a passage for people from one side to the other. Its rocks are natural been arranged for over milions of years

Also along the way to Matema Beach Lake Malawi, its great experience viewing widely cultivated Tea plantations in Tukuyu areas. Tea is one of the perennial crops that many small scale farmers depend on in generating their community development, as well as There is a tea processing factory at Katumba, 5 km from Tukuyu, as one travels to Mbeya.

Day 9
LEISURE AND ACTIVITIES IN MATEMA BEACH

Enjoying day at leisure at Matema Lake Shore Resort, or choose to experience varieties of activities booked and organized directly when you are at the resort.

Matema Lake Shore Resort with its beach, the lake and the quietness is an ideal place to relax. Different activities can be organized at the lodge: The lake is with various species of fish and is wonderful  for kayaking or snorkelling. hiking trips in chilled vegetation, trips to the Mwalalo Waterfall or to the famous pottery village Ikombe, where women of the Kisi tribe artfully produce a great variety of beautiful clay pots

Kayaking water spot, Our sit-on-top kayaks are easy and safe to handle. Also beginners get confident in a couple of minutes. They are suitable for a maximum of two adults and one kid.

Snorkeling mind retreat excursion, A dugout canoe takes you to the best snorkel spots near the mountains. Lake Nyasa contains over a thousand species of fish, more than the North American and European continent combined. The majority of the species belong to the family of Cichlidae, but there are lungfish, elephant-noses, eels and catfish as well. Many of them are very colourful and have interesting behaviors – making it fascinating to watch them.

 

Day 10
CULTURAL TRIP AND MWALALO WATERFALL

The cultural trip to the village of Ikombe is a highly recommended excursion. The Wakisi people are famous throughout Tanzania for their pottery making skills. You will have the opportunity to watch the process of producing these potteries and you can buy them at quite affordable rates.

Mwararo Waterfall, We give you a lift to the forested mountains from where it is a one-hour-climb up to the waterfall. On your way you cross the Mwararo River several times and you will be able to enjoy the atmosphere of a jungle with lots of plants, birds, monkeys and insects. You can swim in the chilling pool or take a refreshing shower in the waterfall before you start your way back.

Day 11
SAFARI TO IRINGA

After breakfast, depart to Iringa, check in at Kisolanza Farm for overnight before proceeding to Dar es Salaam on the next day. On bed and breakfast

Kisolanza is a working farm with cattle, sheep, vegetables, tobacco and flowers. You are free to explore the farm. The Ghaui family has lived in East Africa for over 100 years and are happy to share their knowledge of the area with you.

Amongst the attractions are the tea estates and challenging golf course at Mufindi, Isimila Stone Age Site, local pottery and the attractive historical town of Iringa with its wonderful market selling Kihehe baskets, fruit and vegetables

Day 12
DRIVE BACK TO DAR

After breakfast, depart back to Dar. Hot lunch on the way arrive in time
