DESCRIPTION

Our 15-day trip brings you the highlights of Uganda: where the savanna meets the rainforest. Expect to see the animals of the savannas (lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, hippos, sometimes leopards) and up to 13 primate species, including gorillas and chimps!

The trip specifically includes the most important and well known national parks of Uganda: Murchison Falls national park, Kibale Forest national park, Queen Elizabeth n ational park, Bwindi national park, Lake Bunyonyi and Lake Mburo national parks.

ITINERARY

Day 1
ENTEBBE – KAMPALA

Arrive at Entebbe airport. Your guide will be there waiting for you. Pick up and proceed to your accommodation. Stay at Entebbe Guest House

Day 2
KAMPALA – MURCHISON NATIONAL PARK

Transfer to Murchison Falls national park. In Murchison Falls we visit the top of the falls, if time allows. On our way we visit the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. This is the only place in Uganda where you can see the white Rhino. Murchison Falls is one of the most beautiful national parks of Uganda. One of the main attractions is the Nile, with the spectacular Murchison Falls, where the whole Nile is forced through a narrow gorge and falls 60 meters. Expect to see elephants, giraffes, lions, hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes and maybe leopards. Stay at  Pakuba Lodge.

Day 3
MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK

Early morning game drive in this beautiful national park. Afternoon boat ride on the Victoria Nile up to the bottom of the falls. The boat is the perfect platform to see and photograph many different bird species.

Day 4
MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK – HOIMA

Early morning game drive or boat trip on the Nile to the delta into lake Albert or visit Budongo Forest for a jungle walk. In the afternoon we drive to Hoima town.

Day 5
HOIMA – KIBALE FOREST

After breakfast we drive to Kibale Forest. You can make a walk around the lodge in the afternoon. During this walk it is possible to see monkeys and birds. It is also possible to make a night walk through the forest to see the animals of the night, like bush babies (both activities optional). Kibale Forest is a spectacular jungle, with 13 primate species! Including chimps, baboons, black and white colobus, red colobus, grey cheeked mangabey and L’hoest monkey. Stay at Chimpanzee Guest House.

Day 6
KIBALE FOREST

Chimpanzee tracking in the morning or in the afternoon. For people interested in primates and birds and willing to make another walk we can make a community walk in the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary as well. It is also possible to visit the local people or the crater lakes.

Day 7
KIBALE FOREST – QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

Transfer to the Queen Elizabeth national park. On our way we pass the equator where we will make a stop. Game drive in the afternoon. Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of the best places in Uganda to see lions. Expect to see elephants, lions, many hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes and maybe leopards. Stay at Bush Lodge tented

Day 8
QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

Game drive in the morning.  Boat trip on the Kazinga Channel in the afternoon. The Kazinga Channel is one of the highlights of Uganda and has the highest concentration of hippos in the world.

Day 9
QUEEN ELIZABETH – ISHASHA

After breakfast we drive through Queen Elizabeth national park to the Ishasha sector in the south. Game drive in the afternoon in search of the tree climbing lions.

In Ishasha there are 4 prides of lions that climb the trees daily. Unique in the world! The other attraction of Ishasha are the Topi, not found anywhere else in this national park.

Day 10
ISHASHA – BWINDI IMPENETRABLE

Today we drive to Bwindi Impenetrable. On our way we pass through interesting villages and have some breathtaking views of the mountains.

Bwindi Impenetrable is a unique jungle, with many monkey species. Bwindi is one of the two places in the world where you can find Mountain Gorillas!

Driving time depends on which area in Bwindi we’ll decide to stay in. Stay at Ruhija Gorilla Resort.    

Day 11
BWINDI IMPENETRABLE

Gorilla tracking!!! Early morning departure with your ranger to search for one of the world’s most interesting and endangered animal, the Mountain Gorilla! You will spend one hour with one of our closest relatives. An experience you will never forget.

Day 12
BWINDI IMPENETRABLE – LAKE BUNYONYI

Optional activities for today: make a nature walk through the national park, go for a primate or bird watching walk, or visit the local people or pygmies. It is also possible to do a second gorilla tracking on this day.

Afterwards transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. Lake Bunyonyi is the deepest and most beautiful lake in Uganda. We sleep on one of the beautiful islands, at Entusi Camp Resort.

Day 13
LAKE BUNYONYI

Possible activities for today: make a nature walk, go for a birding walk, canoeing, take a swim or visit the local community (all activities optional).

Day 14
LAKE BUNYONYI -LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast we drive to lake Mburo National Park. Game drive or boat trip on the lake in the afternoon. In the evening we make a night game drive with high chances of seeing leopards.

Lake Mburo is one of the 2 national parks with zebras and the only national park with impalas in Uganda. There are no elephants and lions, so walking safaris are possible.

Day 15
LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK – ENTEBBE

Game drive or game walk in the morning. On our way back we can make a stopover at the Equator for photos. Transfer to the airport for your departure.
